The Memory
Hi my name is Darius Coleman and I wanted to take an opportunity to introduce myself and encourage you to take a listen to my music on my page. I would appreciate if you left a comment!! Thanx
I like that "memory" song. Has a mature, old school vibe. I'm Kim B. Please Check me out also and let me know what you think. Thanks.
very nice arrangement and brass section.. keep it up. check me out and tell me what you think
Excellent. Great sort of trip hop vibe. Love the melodies and the trumpet sets the whole thing off brilliantly. Rated. Craig
hi mellie...just having another listen...love it when you hit those low notes....gorgeous....as are the high notes....gorgeous.....love ..tony x
How have I not commented on this yet? But I have no adequate word -that probably why! 'Beautiful' doesn't tell how this touches me.
Personally I think your voice is wasted on this song. Not that the song is bad, just that your voice is so bloody fantastic! Yourself and Nathalie Miranda have the best female voices on this site. I rated it anyway.
Hi Gorgeous!! First off thank you for being such a loyal listener. I was listening to this track again, and noticed I never commented on it. (I downloaded it ages ago) I listen to it as I drive to work alot! I so love this piece it is a true treasure doll!! Love it love it love it!! :)
Supurb! Love the vocals and how they profess great love for singing, still would love to hear them in front of the music track more, they are so beautiful! love the whole song!
love the instrumentation, absolutely. this is more of a jazzyish tune than r&b;, love the lyrics..very promising. The Kid~
Loving the live instruments on your songs, and the voice is real unique and deep! Keep it up
All of your songs are so easy to listen to. Your voice reminds me of Denise Johnson, formerly of Primal Scream.
Such an amazing voice - so pro!!!!! Kevin.
Heard this a couple of times now and it's simply, brilliant, it almost sounds like a 'classic' quality retro vibe, smoke filled bars, classy singer...you know what I mean, Instrumentation is also quality...respect to the trumpet player too. Rated.
(: sound better everytime, ye those those vox do sound top produc, lyrics really cool aswel "white to blue" (: That trumpet always adds such a defining character to your sound. great stuff again!
'Still learning how to record vocals'?? Eh? Sounds professional to me. A powerful track indded and, as Andy says, the haunting trumpet embellishes the track well.
Melinda Seems to be a Mel night for me!! This too is so professional sounding and the haunting trumpet really captures the scene. It smacks of a 70s detective series to me. Production superb as usual and your voice is sublime and just melts into the mix beautifully. I shall be keeping a close eye on your tracks...rated but alas no noms left. Take Care Andy :)
beautiful, i love your voice, everything about this song is just good. felt this song with all my heart...classic.
Very well produced, the vocals sound sweet to me, a nice chilled uplifting vibe, the track flows along nicely some very easy listening, a nice little sunday morning track.Nice.1
I've laways thought that there are two types of singers. Those who become successful because they have the uncanny knack of finding (or writing) brilliant songs. If the song is good enough it can make up for all sorts of deficiencies in the singer (Madonna would be a good example). Then there are those who seem to be able to sing ANY song and make it sound wonderful (think Ella Fitzgerald or Nat King Cole). I think you definitely fall into the latter category Mel (not that there's anything wrong with the song) but I reckon you could probably sing the obituary column of the local paper and make it sound fantastic. Graham
again, that powerfull voice.. great performance, piano -and trumpet section are just superb. just needs a remaster i think... maybe dimm the reverb on the vocal a bit, to much compression maybe? donno, still, enjoyed listening to it just the way it is. R
real good lyric, love the vox, love it all! a classic sound. great trumpet. rated, nom
Nice to see the vox at the front now. THis is a great song and your vox are amazing. Trumpet great too but overall the music is all wonderful. Pity I have nommed it before.
Definetly cool, and it's great to hear a real trumpet on a song (if I have to have a trumpet on mine it will be digital unfortunatly...). Great work!
I am soooooooooo sloooooooooooow!!!! Should have looked in on this a lot sooner.. Ah well better late than being later.. As always Melinda you put together some really wonderful pieces of music. The Trumpet work by Ron is exceptional. Simply superb
Not my poison really but love your voice. Damn good.
ooooooooooo Mel, this is a WONDERFUL song. I'd happily have my nuts cut off if it would let me sing like that :)
Some got it,some dont.YOU GOT IT!Love them vocals.Of course the music is great, too.
Excellently done track... fully enjoyed that... smooth jazz with a laid back chiill feel to it... Great job on the vocals and the horn is killer... super super job... leaving the R & N cheers!
such a great voice, full sound but it still has that warmth that attracts me to jazz. Beautiful trumpet work aswel, just reading what Xanthe said, i don't think the vox's needs to be higher, but it would add spice to jump up an octave maybe on a longer note, but the work feels complete as it is so no need really. well articulated aswel and that reverb piano really adds to the fullness of the sound. me likes and a rating on top of the pile.
sing more lol
There is nothing that i can say to make you more aware of who or what you are as a musician. great vocals, great words 'How you changed my life from day to night' great line. And the hole melodic hook flow so well. I'm sounding like a suckup, but love it all so far Steve
Wow Melinda, sexy and sultry voice. Nice smooth arrangement. Flows effortlessly. And thank you for your wonderful comments on my tracks. Good luck to you and the band. Recd and rated.

Hey melinda, thnx for the comment, your voice would fit perfectly in "peace keeper" great style u have, I've got a big soft spot for Jazz as my grandad was in Jazz bands playing trumpet..so listening to your work is a real pleasure Rated and recd Jase
Thanks Carol ! I'm thrilled to have so much support from such terrific musicians and producers/composers - Blows me away actually -Nothing like this site State side - Have to literally tear myself away so I can get some work done..LOL!!
Congratulations on the charts this week! :) I know I have heard this before - how could I forget to comment? The more I read I then realize this is on Aarons page too. Well for goodness sakes this is SO good! Have a nomination for your page too! :) So down right sexy! Love this! Yow!
Made for a very nice listen, especially after a long day at work. Its got a great chilled out feel to it. Trumpets and vocals are superb! Very impressed by this, sounds very proffesionally done, well done :P

and thanks for my congrats on charting mel...came out of the blue!
Nice laid back jazzy track....just the thing for a sunday morning. Great keys, love thetrumpet but as has been said before the vocal needs to be more upfront and perhaps a tad warmer...but hey, I am no expert myself. The main thing is I really dug this track. Thanks for sharing!
Thanx Dawn and Abeey for your wonderful comments and support!- agree on the vocal mix- need to be higher in the mix - but next vocal piece i do should be better recorded - bit of a novice in that department but learning:-)
fabulous voice!! it's just wow! amazing! love it all your voice is just total perfection! abeey x
Mel, your voice knocks me sideways girl!! I'll agree with Mat who says it should be up in the mix here. Trumpet is bloody wonderful and so is piano etc...lovely subtle percussion etc...overall a wonderful sound but still the vox are too far back imo. Aaron's treatment of this is also fab...but you gotta have a nom too...so for the second time today, The Memory gets a nom from me LOL
Really really amazingly cool voice.. Nice chilled out relaxed track, and as for the trumpet, wow, took me back to Springsteens Meeting across the river, for emotional power. Excellent track. ONAGER
Relaxed tunbe, just listened to the remix of Aaron. Really like this music, the original is also very cool, laidback and relaxed. Great work. rated and nominated also!!!
Quality track, nice rythm, excellent vocals... effects used well, and pulled me along till the end... Being primarily a Bass player I do enjoy music that rolls me along with a good rythm... this does it for me. Buttons pushed.
Thanks for listening and for the great comments and noms - I love what Reshirt did with this track as well so check it out when you have a chance. remix wunderkind ears! :-)
I've just realised who the vocals remind me of - Alison Moyet. Lovely stuff.
Excellent vocal work! ND
guess what? I remixed this one too. from 105 to 125. dance club mix..wanna hear?
Wow, that sounds really deep. Nice track, great intro. Like those rhythms and pianomelody. Cool vocalwork. This track makes me relaxed and happy. Great job!!! Rated and nominated. Normally i don't listen to jazz but i can really appreciate this composition :)
really really really good, great...nomination
First,I`m not just commenting to return the favor.I was just checking out mp3 and I must say your an incredible song writer.Jazz has never been a strong point of mine but I love and respect the music. Good to see new people on here doing it the right way! Kurt Harley
Thanks Andy for your kind comments - and to all of you lovely and gifted artists who have left comments as well - I'm honored to be in your company and having a blast and truly inspired by the great music on this site. you are all simply the best:-)
A sultry voice.....wonderful production and professional sounding.a great jazz sound to the track. rated Andy :)
Ah... love that trumpet! Silky vox! That trumpet reminds me of "Papa was a Rolling Stone" which is so sweet! You are a huge talent! Rated!
Great track! Love your vocals. Really good tone, and powerful aswell. Trumpet is a great addition too, and the backing drives it all along very niccely. Excellent work Rated and nom'd. Mark
Very nice.I think you do have a wonderful voice. When you finally nail your vocal sound with your recording methods you will fly! Sounds fantastic.
man i love the trumpet player, and the vocals wow first time ? really good stuff. im quite a big fan of jazzy type stuff and a very big fan of real instruments this is superb :) d/l and thumbs up from me quality :D
Great voice.....sounds great, especially for one of your first attempts. Great music, lyrics and you have a really soulful voice. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Rated!!
WHAT A VOICE....WHAT A TRACK... awesome stuff im rating this, and its not even hit a chorus yet!!! despite my acoustic background, my hero is Donald Fagen of Steely Dan....so ur music, with its wonderful jazz funk sounds, are just so appealing...love it. rated
Thanks so much for all for the lovely comments folks!!- Xanthe - I think the the thing that makes it sounds truly retro is the piano sound here which was widely used in the 80's in a lot of power pop music - that and the reverb which could probably drown a horse but hides a multitude of sins..lol!
This is really good, your voice is gorgeous, there is an overall 'Classy' sound to this track, the trumpet player is quality too, well done to all involved. Rated. X Desti
Yep - clear, fulsome sound, loving the differences between the brass and piano there - they complement each other perfectly in this recording. Those solid, mature vocals suit this song to the ground, confidently performed too. Nothing to worry about with your vocals. Musically, performed soldly too - lovely stuff. Nice work, people. Rated.
One of your early attempts, you say ? What a fantastic voice you have. I would like to hear it just a tidge higher in the mix. There's a wonderful atmosphere to this, particularly with the reverb on the piano and the brass. Quite an 80s feel to this too, can't quite put my finger on why. Anyway, you get my final Nom of the week :-)
It doesn't get better than this. Your vocals are superb. Ron is smoking ....ing hot. Lyrics, music, and production...ah I don't know what to say...I'm speechless. I'll just rate this and shut up.
thanks Mat for your kind comment & rating - hopefully I will get better at the recording part - there's a whole mysterious art to it and I'm a novice at it..lol -
You have a fantastic voice, really loved the trumpet too, obviously a superb player. I'm no expert at all but my only comment would be that I'd like to hear the vocal a little more in the mix, other than that it sounded great to me!
