What The Future Holds
love the intro and the whole piece just shines, What a lovely song.
I enjoyed this a lot! always think when I hear a song that provokes me to pick up a guitar and play along that s a cool tune - good luck mark. Thanks for your words of encouragement - jon.
Nice all around. Your style shines through.
A worthy question to ask. Well placed vocally and strange hints of darkness flashing thru the medieval structure. I am interested to know how you set out to write something like this. Hmmm.... methinks nu BWR idea on the horizon.... Rated!
Agree with Graham. This is a folk song after all. Anyway Mark your voice and guitaring shine out as usual. Great Song. Cheers Rogue
Unlike Tom I really like the juxtaposition between the music and the lyrics - reminds me of the juxtaposition of the countryside and the encroaching technology of man. Great song Mark! Graham
your starting to remind me of myself in terms of your output. your another one of those eclectic artists. what will you produce next? this feels like a liberal experience. im a liberal guy so thats meant as a compliment lol. im gonna take a dl..
medieval intro. the vocals are sweet, sometimes they don't really match the darker lyrics. nice tune. i would have liked some darker chord when the lyrics get a bit less optimistic. well done.
Really smooth, and love the sentiment behind it. Made me want to wave my arms in the air (so I am - good job I'm at home). Great guitar break/solo too...
Mark you churn out good songs like butter...how do you do this? I love your music it is so not threatening. Good solid instrumentation and production...crystal clear vocals and a good story to tell....great talent. Rated my friend!!!
Heard this earlier and didn't mind one bit listening again! I like the celtic feel and your vocals as usual performed just great! From the lyrics to the birds to the flute-I like everything about this. You are prolific as a songwriter Mark! I am honoured to work with you from time to time! Merry Christmas! Tweet tweet :)
I had to really concentrate to hear the lyrics as it's not my quest in music to hear a story. (My failing I know). What a unique dichotomy! Chipper music with dire lyrics. Makes me feel guitly for tappin my foot & bobbin me melon. That is a great accomplishment to impart this sentiment on the listener. Very expertly done in all aspects. Gets me rate M8!
Very uplifting musically, great laidback vibe, nice instrumentation, and your usual top quality voice Mark, rated.
Greenpeace protesting village song:D lol... Nice one, excellent arrangement and performance:) ...a bit too long, too much words, imo. Not my genre though, so don't take me seriously...
Mark. Nice one. Nice vox, track intro is cool (birds, etc.). Production seems very good to me (though I'm no expert ear here). Funny, I thought the opposite of Kevin. I liked the verse melody more than the chorus. I thought the chorus melody could be 'catchier'. But I do agree that the song might do better with less words or even less verses. But it works as is. Rated.
I've heard this before and you know I like it muchly mate. It's got a Big Yellow Taxi theme lyrically and is very new-age wiccan etc. Cannot fault it technically either. You are really on a roll these days...turning into a music machine!!
Good song, Mark. Enoyed it, and agree with the meaning/message. Also, nice addition with the strings! Great!
nice one, good vox and a catchy melody ... i though it was a bit light hearted for a topic but that can get quite serious (would make a good thread) but that's just my personal taste comming in! enjoyed listening and rated!
I sort of wanted this to have a happy lyric I think...the music is joyous! Can't fault your production here and vocal is really good....For me the verses sound tricky structurally....I'm not sure if there are too many words for the melody or if it's a top-line thing, but to my ears they don't sing with as much flow as they might....the 2 line chorus on the other hand is hooky and is a corker.....enjoyed listening and was bobbing along. Kevin Mooney.
really nice vocals, love the birds and the ambience sounds :) as always the arrangment and musicisianship is top class really nice flow to this mark thumbs up
Started playing guitar when I was 8 years old, and then took up playing Bass when I was 16. Working with a couple of bands locally mainly playing Rock and Covers. Been writing songs for years but only recently (thanks to the advances in digital recording) started to work on recording them. I live in the South East of England.
Great song Mark the old guitar playing is coming along a treat....I will soon be out of a job......now send them out to everyone and become an international songwriter and star and I can say "I used to know that bloke" keep it up old bean, keep it up
This makes me think of day's gone by, freedom, and life's possiblities. Wow!
From the very start this song reminded me of Jethro Tull. The mood is very thick, and coupled with the lyrics does indeed bring thoughts of Sailors being taken from their families back in the day. I love how it makes me feel that I'm on a ship, and missing home.
great track Mark!!,,love the folky feel and the flute sections...makes me want to get back to the british isles, sit myself down in a pub with a nice guinness and ponder the world!! aaron bishop
I know of Mark's work with his bands and I am glad to hear him branch out with his solo work. He has a great ear for a melody and his lyrical structure is very good indeed. I shall watch this site and his progress up the cahrts with interest.
