I believe that music is the to our lives soundtrack to our lives, the best songs inspire and guide us, they make us happy or sad, they help us to look to the future as well as remember the past. Music is my drug, who needs anything else? Well maybe a cool beer on a hot day! About Me I am a singer songwriter one time singer of the band 404, who reached the attention of Rupert Hine, a major record producer who has worked with Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Chris DeBurgh etc. In his letter he wrote that he "was beginning to feel that interesting tape from writers in this company without a record deal, or indead with a record deal, was becoming a rare phenomenon." We had a recording contract with BMG Records (USA) within six months. but due to Rupert's other commitments and our manager's conflicting interests, our album that we were in the final stages of recording at Metropolis Recording Studios, was never completed before the change of management at BMG. We were told that a 3rd of artists signed to BMG where dropped in a cost cutting exercise and 404 were part of this. 404 ended soon after. After the end of 404 I began to write songs with the performance of the song in mind, as much of the 404 music was difficult to reproduce live. I formed a new band with our original bass player who had now gone back to playing lead guitar. As The Stinking Badgers of Java, quickly shortened to The Stinking Badgers. We gigged for over a year, before I made the decision to move to the South in search of a steady wage. I continued to write, but decided that I had to got back into recording many of the songs that I had written before they were forgotten, I also started to work on my music video which you can see on my website http://www.johnrlhunter.co.uk and at YouTube as well as myspace. I am now reaching a larger audience and will soon be releasing my first CD under my own label.
