That Summer (Classical Version)
Hi Europica. Thought I would come back to this one for another listen. I'm still loving this. It was a very well deserved Top 20 hit. I really could imagine this being used for a film. It's fantastic. Hope all is good with you my friend. PJ
I love the classical touch of this song, great job Pete!

What a departure and what an inspirational tune.Great choice of timpani too.
Congrats on making the Top 20 this week. Totally agree with what Tony said. I too can imagine this being a theme to a hollywood movie and I actually hope it does. Liked it. PJ
This could be a big open country hollywood movie score, and it works for me. Not like me to say this but: maybe the drums are a bit too up in the mix. Maybe start loud then back them off, especially during the flute parts? Anyway, thumbzup, it's original.
This sounds like a real big band performing to my ears! I like the sound you have with the drums on this - they sound nice and full. The song is very dramatic and seems to go through many moods. Nice and long too, it's cool to see that you didn't shy away from letting the song run its course. It has opened the door for me to also consider making a nice lengthy attempt. Very impressive and inspiring track here!!!
Nice stride all through the track. Production is spot on. Musical and eventful.
Lovely string quartet and the pizzicato has a very playful sound against the smooth deep cello. The drums add a dramatic feel to the track but feel that they could be used a little less. The flute melody is very enchanting. How on earth do you change a trance track to classical. Well done......
Hi Pete... solid work here mate... Great intro, tense... whats coming next?.. I like the lend of strings and shakers and orchestral drums... The melody is somewhat, calming and widespread.. Interesting break down and nice work with the flute ... Good work mate, thank you for sharing! -Dave-
an excellent piece of work - an integration of wonderful sounds - great production and mix - big thumbs up for this
Super job...smooth melodic track with great percussion elements...got me tapping and nodding my head and feet!
Cool track!! Love the percussion sounds you have going on. Great produciton too!!Nice job. Thumbs up. Wait for Stars
I'd be happy to have a go at mastering Pete - see how it turns out dude. Early next week prob monday would be good. Mix sounds ok - i like the big drums ya got going on - maybe pull-back the cymbalwork a tad or two dBs and lift the top-end on em also - they just sound a little lacking and a tad loud. Here's a thumzup for now as it deserves it. Maybe also alternate the repetitive tambourine sound you have with something a little more fitting for the musical style and I might just consider taking the volume level on the higher string notes down a few dB - they tend to overpower a bit. Hey it's just an opinion so no need to phone the comment-police lol.
Pete Romanowski, aka Europica is a bass player from the UK who started to play at the age of 24. His first band was a rock outfit called Motorboat who played their original songs around Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Bedfordshire in the 80's. This lead to them to being plugged by the late great John Peel. Compared with the Pink Fairies one of their many gigs involved raising money to help out a mate who was a hunt saboteur, who had got arrested at a fox hunt, taken to court and fined for breaking the peace. So they did a benefit gig to help raise some money so the fine could be paid. Such was the spirit of this band who also did benefits for Amnesty International. In the 90's Pete was invited to join three bands. "Handy", "The Nightshift" and "Chicken Inspectors", (the latter name taken from a Daffy Duck cartoon). They gained local media exposure, in the press and on Radio. Their highlight was playing the Bedfordshire Millennium Festival in the beautiful grounds of Shuttleworth House which was the biggest event of any kind to be held in the County. They also did some benefit gigs for local charities. Pete's favourite gig with this band however was in a tiny pub with a highly charged atmosphere on St Patricks night. To be sure to be sure. Here Pete showcases all of his compositions, ranging from World to Classical to Jazz, Reggae, Dub, and EDM (Electronic Dance Music). There are some collaborations here too. So check out the credits on the page to see who else is involved and it's highly recommended that you google their names to find their outstanding music. The collabs on this page were started off with Pete's ideas, recording the basslines, writing the lyrics and maybe a few other things and then inviting others to bring their own personal creativity to complete the songs. Most of the Reggae and all of the Trance tunes are Europica's solo works. Enjoy the music here and if you'd like to comment or become friends then please feel free to do so or just say a simple "hello". Many thanks!
