Dj Rey (aka Mario Orozco) has had a love of House music since he was 15 and first heard it on L.A. radio station Power 106. He has been spinning since the age of 18 when he discovered Trance while looking through his cousin's CD collection. He mixes House, and Trance, and occasionally other genres. He is not your typical DJ- one who is worried about having the newest or hottest tracks-DJ Rey is more concerned with keeping the crowd and the party going! For this reason, you'll notice he mixes new stuff and old favorites together in his sets. You can catch his monthly mixshow, "Underground Frequencies" on www.clubradio.net. Just click on the dj database and look for DJ Rey under the "Gold Accounts" list.
DJ Rey is also a musician, with quite a few performance credits under his belt; one of the most recent being a pilot he participated in for MTV. Rey is also a producer-he writes and engineers his own productions. (The only thing he can't do is sing!) He doesn't have a label yet, but is actively looking for one to be signed to, or better yet, a partner to create one.
Rey grew up listening to artists such as Average White Band; Earth, Wind and Fire; Tower of Power; and James Brown. This early musical experience definitely influences his music today.
Rey was also influenced by Jazz, and guitarists such as Carlos Santana, George Benson, Gabor Szabo, and others. You'll find that Rey's music changes genres about as fast as the days of the week do. The reason for this is his myriad of different musical influences as well as his interest in different kinds of music, from Pop to Jazz to the beats of Hip Hop and Techno and even Reggae and Latin.
DJ Rey is hopeful when looking to the future; he hopes to be signed to a record label and continue making his music. For those that count themselves among his fans, he hopes that he can touch them in some small way with his music.
