Music has always been in Stephanie Victoria's life, as this sultry singer/songwriter began developing her skills age of 9, starting with violin lessons. Then came poetry and singing, school choruses and family functions with her father, who is also a singer/actor. Whether it was impromptu concerts in the living room, or sitting at the beach for hours writing in her journal, she always knew she wanted to sing. At age 14, she and her father and two sisters were invited to be a featured act at the Miller Lite Summer Festival, as part of a promotion for the 1995 Special Olympics International Games.
Just a few months after moving to NYC from Guilford, CT to continue school and to pursue a music career, this Gemini crossed paths with producers, The Savant & Grandsolo. After the trio discussed musical interests and the possibility of working together, she was invited to the Underworld Sounds lab to check out the vibe. Her first song, 'Dismissed', was recorded that same night, and a partnership was born. In Spring of 2004, Stephanie was invited to perform in an all-female showcase in the 4th Annual Village Soul Festival, where she unveiled her second single, "Doors Opening."

She grew up surrounded by the soul artists of her parents’ day, like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Mavis Staples so she's learned to value the lyrical content in a song. She loves the blend of musical genres from modern artists like Maroon 5, yet she is drawn to the smooth contemporary sounds of Sade and Zero 7. “I hope my music takes me as far as it can go…I want people to really hear what I’m saying, feel what I’m singing. ” Stephanie Victoria pulls ideas for her songs straight from the pages of her life – using either old journal entries, travel logs, or even unfinished poems to furnish her lyrics with vivid imagery and tangible emotion. Love, relationships, and self-discovery are often among the topics of her work, leaving the listener with a sense of compassion and empathy, and a ‘yeah, I’ve been there too.’ |
