Formula Redux is a collaboration of Brian Eusse, Andres Auad, Harry Varela, and Raul Rio (Dino). Founder Brian Eusse was inspired by the electronic music of the 80s as well as the more contemporary EBM and futurepop bands from Europe...so much that he decided to start a solo project in 1999. Using his knowledge of music he began experimenting with more of an electronic pop sound and recorded some tracks which later became the basis for the band’s sound. Eventually long time friend Andres Auad came aboard along with another friend of theirs. The trio managed to perform LIVE and record some more songs before becoming once again a duo under the name Formula. The band’s earlier sound included guitars and live bass. Eventually they stumbled upon Harry Varela who at the time had his own project which was more influenced by the bands of the 80’s such as Clan of Xymox. Coincidently, Harry’s band was to play with Formula but unfortunately that did not come to pass. But after meeting with Brian and Andres, a bond was established. With their love of electronic music and synthesizers, the three decided to come together and experiment with a new sound. Formula had to then change its name. Without wanting to lose the fan base gained with the original name, they added "Redux" and thus Formula Redux was born. They managed to record some new songs as well as updating old material with their 16 channel digital recorder and their simple setup. Although the quality was not there yet, the potential definitely was. Slowly but surely they managed to play around Miami at any club they could, often times repeatedly until they managed to save up enough to upgrade their equipment. Three years later and after countless remakes, the band has finally found their own unique style and sound. Combining an 80s feel with the more hard edge dance beats and melodic vocals, Formula Redux has managed to stand out in an otherwise stale present. One addition to Formula Redux that expanded and diversified its sound was Raul Rio, a.k.a. DJ Dino, on drums. Aside from providing a rock-steady rhythm, he lends a DJ's feel for danceable tracks during the band's writing sessions. The year 2004 found the band releasing their first independent full-length album title Altered States and embarking on their first tour outside their hometown of Miami Florida on to New York and New Jersey. With their popularity growing throughout the US, thanks to the airplay their songs are receiving both on the radio and at clubs, Formula Redux hopes to soon embark on more tours across the US and Europe.
