The members of Newbourne all grew up just south of Calgary in the small town of Okotoks. Chris Shoults & Mike Ervin started musically collaborating in high school together & over a long period of time they developed a band named Citopia which was short lived and there-after changed to Newborn. After a lot of changes and instability within Newborn’s lineup, they parted ways & were put on a 4 year Hiatus. In August 2006, Mike & Chris reunited and started writing some stellar new in your face Music. After a lot of planning and songwriting, Newborn was fortunate enough to locate new members Scott Pfeifer and Olin Erickson, both out of Okotoks. So why the name change? Newborn wanted take the band in a new primitive direction & get a fresh start, so they changed their name to ‘Newbourne’ meaning 'new destination', which enabled them to keep the Newborn double entendre. With every member in Newbourne having an eclectic taste in music, the unique musical backgrounds brings forth the new alternative sound that is catching Calgary by surprise. Newbourne's fan base is growing steadily with every show & there is nowhere to go but up for this superior band. Newbourne has played for Grapes of Wrath on their comeback tour, One 900, Out Of your Mouth, Chyshuga & many other local acts out of Calgary. The year 2007 is going to be a big Year for Newbourne. They plan to have their first album released in early spring and are in the midst of arranging a Western Canadian tour shortly after the album release

Born, Out of the silence,
We enter this world.
The trap is sprung,
The road is paved,
& most will follow it blindly.
Quietly ushered towards death,
While making the man richer.
We are the new breed,
We've run off the highway,
& we will find our own way to death,
we are NEWBORN |
