Where I'm coming from. (biog). A band called David. It all started back in 2001, bored at home on another rainy day, (i'm a roof tiler by trade!), I penned my first 3 songs. At the time I put these away. Two years later whilst having a clear out I found these 3 songs, I was amazed when the "melodies" that I had written them to, (in my head) popped straight back into my head. This prompted me to try and write some more songs. At first I was only writing lyrics, however I found myself singing every song I wrote out loud to a melody in my head! During 2003 I studied writing, poetry and lyric writing and structure. I found that my lyrics were getting much better and I was beginning to express myself better. In early 2004 I got my first Guitar, a green electro/acoustic affair with cut away. By November 2004 I had written over 20 songs, around that time I also read a book on how to become a "popstar" by Stan Culimore, formerly of the Housemartins. At this time I was questioning my own ability and didn't have any idea whatsoever about how to get myself out there. Then in November 2004 I found the GISC ( the guild of international songwriters and composers) and by now friends and family had begun to agree that " I've got something there"! The Giscs information and flattery (will get you anywhere) from family members and friends alike gave me the confidence to move on. Christmas 2004 I purchased a Casio ctk series keyboard and from that went on to learn a little about music theory. I then spent a lonely 6 months recording my songs onto tape using a keyboard and mic through the mic slots of a 1990s hi fi and beats from the keyboard itself. By May 2005 I had written over 60 songs, now I have penned over 80. In May 2005 I purchased Magix music maker DL 2005, this took me to a higher level and allowed me to express myself even more. I now have recorded over 20 tracks onto CD and into MP3. Recently I acquired Reason3 and fruity loops 6 which I'm currently trying to get my head round. Just lately I have begun to receive excellent feedback from musosites such as, this one, Mp3 unsigned and Musofinder.co.uk in regards to my lyrics vocal style and attitude. Frustratingly I have been trying to put a band together for the past 9 months, indeed I am still searching. I seem to express myself best in an Indie/rock/punk style and have the lyrical and vocal attitude to go with it! I AM the Lyricist/vocalist/frontman that you want to be in a band for! (if your into the same stuff as me that is!). So please musos such as a drummer, lead/rythymn guitarist, basso and keyboards that want to get out there and go for it please get in touch. Also any PRO musos you know a good thing when you see it, don't you?, come on and give me a chance, with your knowledge and my obvious natural ability as a lyricist/vocalist we can make it happen. I can also put the words/attitude into your instrumentals/compositions. Please don't hesitate to get in touch. Thanks for reading me. I'm looking for people that want to be in a band, can play their instruments well and are over 25. Contact Dave D at: [email protected] or [email protected] Check out my latest tracks on www.musofinder.co.uk and www.mp3unsigned.com thanks. DD aka A band called David. :-)
