Here's a track I've been looking forward to hearing all month, not because I know anything at all about Serenity or the track itself. Nope, it's just that I'm a right nosey parker as far as music goes and I watch what goes on; looking for that special buzz about an artist. Serenity have been the subject of that buzz for a while now over at MP3 Unsigned so I was highly delighted to see them put in a track for review this month.
Regular readers of my reviews will know that I already rate one of the two halves of the collaboration known as Serenity; that of electronic whizz Virus; his work with Slippy T and last month's awesome track in collab with Stephen Todd, a brilliant musical treat called Leave Me Be. Just that work alone is enough to raise his reputation in my eyes and I STILL have to hear something from him alone. The second half of the duo is vocalist RainyD who, I admit, I hadn't heard anything of up to this point. I'd seen her of course on MP3 Unsigned's forums but hey, there's only enough time in a day, ya know?
My All is definitely a track more suited to languid summer days than the brass monkey crap we are presently putting up with. It's acoustic breeziness, and Ibiza style flow make it one of those tracks that gives you a charge just to hear it. The warmth, light and sheer good humour of the track is totally infectious and won me over in about .003 of a second. However, I must admit that this kind of track isn't really my style - but the way it is delivered and the atmosphere it passes to the listeners is just pure pleasure. RainyD has a very decent voice, it's nasal tone giving it a bounce, especially in a track as light and uncomplicated as this. Serenity, does exactly what it says in the title!
