I was listening to this the other day and I got to wondering, if you could only take three albums (I believe they are called CDs these days) on your desert island which would they be and why.

Just to get the ball rolling, mine woulde be:

Hector Berlioz - Requiem Mass. One of the most sublimely beautiful pieces of music ever written and which still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I listen to it!

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. Made me realise you could write intricate lyrics and complex music and still make it accessible. The first hour of this is flawless.

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief. Holds me spellbound every time I listen. The intricacy and uniqueness of their music is a wonder.

Well those are my three - what about yours?

John Digweed - MMII
The best progressive house mixed set I've ever heard.  And I've heard a lot, trust me.  It's got the most beautiful blend of ethereal progressive my ears have heard.

Sasha - Involver
This was a ground breaking album for the electronica/DJ world.  Sasha remixed every song used in the mix.  It's unlike any "club" sorta mix, changing tempo between songs and such, almost entirely flawlessly.

Danny Howells - 24:7 (Disc 1)
This is the CD that made me want to spin ambient/trip hop.  I never realized how seemless you could mix within the styles until this album.  The best example of chill out mixing that touches through many styles of "chill"

*edited because it wasn't a cool enough post*

Just three albums mate!!?  Couldn't I take my ipod with near on 4000 tunes, no fair  that's not even funny.  Ganna have nightmares tonight!  I get bored easily, can you tell?

Well if I couldn't take Jez with me then his album would have to come.  Or I would cheat and put my fav's of his and ours on one disc.  Especially Circle of Light which features us both.  (sorry for those who think its sad but his tunes always go with me on holiday, they have been to Paris and Greece already this year )

Can I take compilation album with my fav's from here on?  As I listen to you guys way more than anything else.

If I HAD to chose albums from the high street they would be...

Green Day - American Idiot

Celine Dion - One Heart

Luther Vandross - Dance with my father

*hugs ipod affectionately and promises not to even contemplate that ever again!*

Know how you feel Rainy ... I'd prefer to take an mp3 player complete with everlasting battery any day!

If I had to pack my bags today my three albums would be:

  • Abba - Gold
  • Beatles - Revolver
  • Keane - Hopes and Fears

But tomorrow I'd probably have a completely different selection

Xanthe, I'm the same.  Have to put up tomorrow what we would take, all depends on moods but that sucks as that would change on a desert island too.

Show off Mr. Infectious!  That settles it then me and Jez are going together and we could do lil acoustic numbers (or I could just beat him with it when he p*ssed me off  )

Or you could use the guitar as a raft to escape and fashion the strings into a fishing net in case you get peckish ...

No, it's not that he dislikes Genesis... he just DESPISES Phil Collins!  Even though, I believe Grey's Genesis album he's listed was before Phil Collins became the vocalist?
And Xanthe: Revolver is probably my all time favorite albums by the Beatles!
