Well finally got a new computer! My last computer was a 1.7Ghz piece of dung! My new computer however is a kick ass dual core with 1.5GB ram and Vista home premium, anyways the reason i started this thread is more or less to tell you my experience with Vista and to see who else uses it.
At first when i bought the computer i knew Vista came with it but thought fuk it i will get used to it, when i got the computer set up for the first time and started Vista i was blown away with the beauty of it! I have to say i kinda struggled with it because i was bombarded with a welcome screen and more other sh!t i hadnt a clue about!
![]() I was getting stuff off my other computer tonight with XP in it and i couldnt help but think how sh!tty it looked compared to Vista, so for me its Vista all the way. I was alittle warey at first but i guarantee whn/if you get Vista you will say the same!
So all in all Vista isnt bad (i think i should get paid from Microsoft for this) a bit hard to get used to but miles ahead of XP.
The main reason i started this thread was to find out who else uses it and how they adapted to it and also to see if anyone else is interested in it?
PS: sorry got a little carried away on the typing!

![]() ![]() Starting a wee PC building business (extension of Kiopo.com Ltd) after the annoying experiences of acquiring this PC, got suppliers sorted out, so gonna be building kick ass PCs for cheaaap prices rather soon. Some specifically designed for music production too! Will post ads in the advertising section when its all up and running, probably next week. Can offer Vista home premium at OEM prices too. |

You know funnily enough i had an option when installing it to run in either 32 bit or 64 bit (My dual core is 64bit) but i opted for the 32bit to run all my sh!t until more sopport came out and nearly everything installed and works a treat! I dunno if it would be worth switching from XP to Vista to run in 32bit but if you ask me i wouldnt go back even tho XP has done me proud over the years i just couldnt! Imagine XP users using windows 98 again............. now you get my point!

Yeah exactly.. I can't wait to upgrade when the time is right. Incidentally, with East West samples (so Kontakt player), is there just no support for the 64 bit version of Vista or is it both do ya know? They're releasing a new 'Play' engine which supports Vista but it costs a wee bit.
Only annoying thing about this new PC is the 3gb ram limit on xp and vista .. I have 4gb of ram but only 3 will really get used, plain silly! I think its because over that much exceeds what 32 bit addresses can allocate, needs 36 bit or more I think, so maybe its different in vista 64 bit. http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1426/vista_64_bit_or_32_bit_version_x64_vs_x86 Edited by kiopo3 - 05 August 2007 at 1:34am |

Not too sure James if it sopports it or not because a few programs didnt install for me but alot did that funnily enough arent even sopposed to work under Vista. No real assurance other than to create a dual boot system and try it out! Also avery good site Neil, have it in my favs to check out later. You actually dont need a great graphics card to run Vista Neil, before i installed mine i just used the onboard graphics and it worked fine until i put in the graphics card. Also like James said, use the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor (No WGA check, i think) and you can see which version of Vista you can run!
