Solution to commenting error message problem

Hi Guys n Gals,

This is in response to Tony's message in the chat box concerning the "error message when posting comments" problem.
(Was gonna reply there, but my reply ended up too long for a chat box post, hence this thread)

As explained by Sirc, the problem is with the mail server. For artists who opted not to receive email notifications of comms on songs, there will be no problem posting comments, however for all artists who opted to receive notifications this error message will appear (at least until the mail server stops mistakenly thinking those notifications are SPAM...)

One possible solution is for admin to automatically opt everyone out of notifications. I know some are fond of the idea of getting email notifications (especially for comments on older tracks they might otherwise miss), but at least this solution would solve the irritating "error message when commenting" problem.

What do you think, guys? It would mean that, instead of checking your mail to see if there are any new comments on your latest track, you just check the track directly. Not such a biggie, I'd imagine...

What say you? All in favour say "aye", all against say "nay" etc.

To be honest does it need to be an option. I'm saying this because as far as I'm aware no one is getting an email. So short term this should be taken out anyway as it doesn't work. Long term yeah I think this option is needed. Once the error as been fixed.

I don't get email notifications so didn't know I was opted in...must be because I have same problem. I'd opt out in a heartbeat AYE

Agreeeed, I dont think the email notification works anyway, I cant remember the last time I got an email, and i have had comments

Default I like the e-mail notifications...but...

I do enjoy the e-mail notifications...but they're not working at the moment.
I would like the new re-vamped site, whenever it comes out in its new incarnation, to continue with that feature (esp. for older tracks, as Darth pointed out).

That being said, I accept this proposal as a temporary "fix"

I used to get email notifications but have not now for most of this year! I think it wouldn't be much of an inconvenience to have to check in on them here onsite and that might be good for site traffic volume? I know nothing about what I just said and therefore please just laugh at it. Thanks! -Mike

Hi guys!

done!

i deactivated the e-mail notification feature on all artists who had that feature selected.
there should be no more error messages any more on any songs [unless someone reactivates it but i think this is unlikely]

please let us know if anyone ever gets another error message posting comments. then it is another problem we need to root out. but i think the problem is solved.


the new site is being build from ground up so none of the old problems should recurr.
