General bugs
Lodato Lodato is offline 30-09-2010, 18:54 PM

Sometimes I hit play on my music page and other things pop up instead. Sometimes download appears and sometimes voting pops up instead of the song playing. Then when I try to get the song to play again I can't get it to stop playing or change to the next song. This is an intermittent problem. Today I'm having trouble. I'm using Firefox as my browser but also when I use explorer as well. But explorer is a nightmare so I try to stay clear of it. I also tried to contact you through the contact prompt but that never works and most time just don't bother sending my message out of frustration. Is there something on my end that maybe is going wrong?

Hi Rich,
Sorry for the delay. Things have been hectic this past week and I've been limited in the time I can get onto the site. Anyway, the player seems to cause some issues in Firefox from time to time. This seems to be when FF is downloading an update in the background. The problem usually goes away when you close down the browser and open it again after the download has been installed, that's one of the problems with FF - constant updates and tweaks. That said, FF is an important browser so with that in mind I had a meeting with a developer during the week to come up with a solution and it looks like there are a few options available. We'll be doing some upgrade work to the player shortly.
There are still quite a few things that need updating on the site, as a one man band it is very tough to get it all sorted out quickly - especially with a real world job and family. I'm trying hard to get it all sorted and am moving forward with an extra pair of hands now to get a full suite of updates in place.
One other problem that has dogged me is the email notification - the whole system needs to be replaced (currently we are still relying on the old code for that part of the site). This is in the pipeline too (thank god!). I replied to about a hundred emails recently and discovered that none of them were sent anywhere...
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm on top of these issues and should have them sorted out with some new improvements soon.
Thanks for your patience.
A
