Great News!

I've got some great news to share with everyone. It's a few things actually. For starters I've taken some money out of my student loans to invest in myself, buying EastWest Quantum Leap sound libraries as part of the Complete Composer's Collection bundle that they sell on their website. It was $100 off and financial aid just came in, and the sale was going to last until the following day. I knew exactly what I had to do.

I've been eyeing these sounds for years already and I'm happy to say that I finally own a great deal of new sound libraries: Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Plus, Symphonic Choirs bundle, Stormdrum 2 bundle, Ra, Silk, Pianos, and Voices of Passion. About a month before that I purchased EastWest's Ministry of Rock sound library as well. They're all on an internal 1TB hard drive that was shipped.

I've upgraded my computer as well. I bought another internal 1TB hard drive for more space and I bought more RAM, now maximizing my computer at 16GB of RAM! I also overclocked my CPU to 3.7Ghz, so I can't complain about power for music creation. Now I can only blame the software if it doesn't have 64-bit support.

Since this is also my last semester at FSU, I realize that I don't really know much about the video game industry, seeing how I aspire to be a video game composer. I've joined a website, Audiogang.org, that has an annual subscription of $75+, but well worth it given the resources for its members. It has many resources for me to use as a composer, and also the community there are all part of the video game industry and members can even receive discount on the Game Developer's Conference in San Fran! There are people who are already in the industry and it seems like a great place for me to research and get my bearings.

Lastly, I entered a Killzone 3 remix contest in April at ACIDPlanet.com earlier this year and I just received an email stating that I placed as a runner-up for the contest. I'm getting a copy of ACID Pro software, a copy of Killzone 3 for PS3, and seven loop libraries from ACIDPlanet. Now I'm waiting for the website to update with the complete results, so that I may shake my fist at the person who placed first hahaha.

I've been making some good changes and preparing myself for the future. So here's to the best for myself!
