Bullshit comments on songs

Now, I'm all one for praise and positive feedback, but some people take it WAY TOO FAR. Pretty recently someone went on my profile and commented positive, yet quite generic comments on my stuff. I have a song on my profile called "Americanization." The song is an itonic tune about how people want to be American so badly, but yet we have some terrible, superficial things in this country. The person must have listened to like 10 seconds of the song. They also commented the most generic thing on a snippet (good luck completing this.) wtf?
Sorry if I come across as petty but I hate people who give you false confidence when all they want is for you to go check out their stuff.
The worst part is that this guy has the current #1 song on here.

95% of comments are left in the hope of returned comments.

Probably about 25% are generic comments. Then there is the BS comments. This is hard to put a % on, as it's different all the time. Depends how active certain members are. If they have a new release out that week then the % rises

I'm glad my comment was honest. As KtA says, the autotune really sucks testicles! The comment from you-know-who is par for the course from him. He bullshits everyone. What? Just sayin!

BS comments? I guess that means the comments that are too brief to be anything but apparently insincere? I figure that if I didn't want comments I wouldn't like, I wouldn't enable the comment feature when I uploaded the track. By enabling the comments, the artist takes the risk that someone, well-intentioned or other, will leave a comment that I (the artist) may struggle with. The struggle part is all me - my issue. I make the choice to shrug my shoulders, or scratch my... head ( a lot of chat about balls "wubbed" or testicles sucked made me unsure whether I should follow that trend...LOL!) or to react and fly off. I agree with KtA that private comments (private messages or e-mails ) is the road to take but, apparently, it is the one less traveled.

What defines us is, equally, how we give, and how we receive, I think.
The Pay-it Forward approach is always a safe bet too.

My thoughts behind BS comments is largely this.


People who comment on every track with just mindless praise and nothing other than smoke blowing. Also people who only do this when they have something to promote. I'm all for encouraging artists but to only do this when you have something to promote smells like ASS !

A BS comment can be any length. They are obvious by their content, which is usually generic and indicates the "listener" didn't actually listen. They are sickeningly patronising and very often contain blatant requests to listen to their shit. And they expect valid comments? If you can live with that shite Terry, you must be a saint!

A comment can be as brief as just a few words. That doesn't make it a BS comment. It's the content and the context, For me anyway.

And I agree with Tony about the back handed comments. Suck, suck, suck. Kiss, kiss kiss. I have a new track out check it out !

That is the ultimate of BS commenting and we all know most the site got that very comment last week. Oh look this thread got started on the back of that.

The sooner people wake up to this kind of BS the better the site will be for it.
