Where are we going?

I was going to have a big rant about where this site is or isn't going, but true to the spirit of things these days, quite frankly I can't be arsed...

Personally I`m off to California in 4 weeks time but for all its little areas that could be better I`ll miss this place and those who dwell here.

...However perhaps to make this thread more than yet another piss take I'd like to add a couple of points of my own:-

Accepting that the Admin are all volunteers and have lives they have taken on the role and should be around consistantly (at least one of them). My comment about the tracks order still hasnt been acknowledged so I assume its of no interest to Admin, even though I've had PM's from members who agree.

Call me cynical but I feel were (slowly) drifting more towards this site becoming more commercially orientated (did I spell that correctly?)

Community is what makes this site stand out - not ads or sponsored comps - I say that only because I never win

I am just wondering if Mp3U users think running a site like this comes cheap? And how else they would fund a site of this size, and put in so many hours keeping it online, whilst trying to attract interest to keep it ticking along?

There is no membership funding like we had back in the days of Stu. I know alot of us long term members paid quite a substantial amount to be here yearly as VIPS back in 2006 and before... and now it is free, and the benefits have increased (ie- 100 uploads).

I personally think about the amount of time and money admin have put in for us to use this site

I'd happily pay a yearly/monthly subscription fee and I bet a few others would too. In paying it I'd feel i was contributing to the hard work done by admin. Keeps out the riff-raff too lol
