Building New Studio
dark genius dark genius is offline 07-07-2012, 06:24 AM

After moving twice I need to build a new studio from scratch. I have a decent computer but I need to buy a good sound card 192khz preferrable good monitors and cables A good midi controller keyboard and some acoustic room treatments and of course cables all for 2-3 thousand dollars. Midi latency is very important as is sound quality do you have any ideas to maximize sound quality and minimize latency while keeping ad much money in my pocket as possible? I have my eye on Adams a7x's but I am open to good ideas... Sound quality is more important that volume to me.

Have you set the budget yet? Too much gear to name without a budget, personally I'm aimin for a good Mixing Console and some monitors with some minor sound treatment, enough to get by...

The one thing I really need some old advise on is a soundcard. It seems in the last 2 years everyone has switched to USB or FireWire audio interfaces. I need a Device with ultralow latency and amazing sound quality I used to have an emu1212 and was very pleased with it but they are no longer in production and I cannot find any second hand ones. I heard that the USB interfaces have higher latencies as do the FireWire options?what do you guys n gals use and what kind of latencies are you experiencing?

I did it I coughed up a serious lump of dough and got these bad bowys!

The sound card is great, I originally purchased the saffire pro 24 but it was total rubbish so I sent it straight back, I would not recommend it to my worse enemy.

And thank you zeeshan for your totally meaningless comment.

On a more meaningful note, I recently got the saffire Pro40 firewire doings, and happy with it, except it won't let go of jackplugs!
