I'm making my first music video at the moment and I've come across some nifty free tools that I thought I would share. If anyone else has any tips, tricks or tools on how to create music videos please post them to this thread. It would be handy to have a resource thread for this especially as we can put music videos on our new artist pages now.

Where possible, I'll use download.com for linking to this stuff because they have antivirus scanning and quality control but just to be safe make sure you have av software on your system before downloading anything.

1) How to download videos from youtube
Free YouTube to MP3 Converter - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

2) Free file conversion software - change between video formats (flv, avi, mpg etc)
Prism Video Converter - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

3) Video editing suite
VideoPad Pro Video Editor - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

4) How to copy video from dvd to your hard drive:
Easy DVD Rip - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

There's enough there to get started anyway. If anyone has some better tools or info please post it here. Try to keep all of the tools FREE!

Here are some sites that have free downloads of public domain video - ie movies and video footage that has fallen out of copyright and you can use royalty free.

vIRTUAL DUB IS BRILLIANT FOR A FREE EDITOR/CONVERTER. tAKES A BIT GETTING USED TO BECAUSE IT OLD LOOKING BUT IS ALSO VERY INDEPTH AND POWERFUL!

Also the Pazera programs are good, well some of them are but just grab what you need instead of everything! lol Just wish they'd combine a few of their converters into one program!

EDIT: Ok then, they now have a video converting suite!

Ripping tube vids , recording from Go Pros in mp4 format and needing to convert them feckers to even work with them (HD cains Gigs damn it!) lol, converting files form FLV to avi ... I have spent far too much time doing that.



Good you are sharing the knowledge though for those that are fresh to it all.
