Not sure if this is the right forum...

but I wasn't sure where to post this.

We (Honey Thick) wrote and performed a song, called 'Come Get Some' and sent it to a local talk show (the #1 radio talk show in NY). They played our song on the air a few times one day, and are offering it as a download on their webpage (Boomer & Carton Main Page - WFAN - The Fan), and also have a link back to our page.

My question is this: How do we parlay this into something bigger? It's cool that they played it on the air and talked about it, but now what? There has to be something we can do to use this to our advantage.

Any ideas???

Well i take it the track isnt for sale (Amazon, napster, itunes etc etc..) so it looks like this one is a promo track for you, meaning it will let people know you exist and maybe make them search for you. Thats why you should have as many tracks for sale as possible, you should notice a rise in online traffic after your airplay. Just do what you can whilst you have people visiting your site to advertise and promote yourself and also sell as many tracks as possible!

No, we are actually giving the song away for free on our website. We have seen a steep increase in the number of hits to our website, but I really want to turn this into something that will get us noticed by a record company. Not sure how to go about it though.

I think that's what a manager is for. A good manager would know how to capitalise on this by getting things like quotes from respected DJ's for your website, alerting other stations to the airplay, making a music video for the track would help I think.

GEt yourselves a good manager and take any contract he gives you to a music lawyer before you sign it.
