![]() ![]() ![]() That's just my way of showing what little respect I have for folks that always take and never give back or show any gratitude. I don't mind giving my music away. A simple thanks is all that's required. If I see more than 100 downloads and not even a nod thrown my way, I just feel robbed. This is not something I ponder on that much but when I see it on others artists hard work as well it just gets my nickers twisted. Small v for vampire is a person with little regard for others.

![]() ![]() ![]() How hard would it be to fix it so downloads were only available after a comment has been left behind? The drawback to a solution like that is only members can leave comments, cutting off all friends and family of artists here who've been invited to stop in from helping themselves.
And some of that dl count could be a glitch. A demo I'd posted recently, only up for a few hours for a friend to dl. For some reason he was unable to dl it with his iphone, and I wound up emailing it to him instead. Before I pulled the demo it had registered 16 downloads. Not sure if those were 16 attempts by him...or what? ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() I seem to remember the dl thing a few years back. Someone called em spybots and I guess they go around grabbing stuff wherever they can. As far as the comments issue, it's come to my attention that people in the world do what they want, when they want to for whatever reason they want. And short of exterminating them in one way or another I've had to let them go.
Or at least choose my battles. It helps me with my serenity which is fleeting at best sometimes. ![]() ![]() ![]() Be well my friend....

![]() ![]() ![]() I hope I can solve the reason why your downloads appear to have been stolen as such
![]() The biggest reason is other websites. If you took the time to google your track names you will no doubt find a lot of websites hosting your very tracks! Why do they do this? Because they need content to then have advertising potential and make money from the ads, not your music. For example, google Exoticipher and the first page is our content, go to the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th etc page and you find a ton of sites that have taken downloads from either here on mp3U or soundcloud and used it on their sites for content. Page 2 of the google search result is here - none of these links bar 2 are from us : https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ex...ipher&start=10 The second reason will be peeps with smart phones taking downloads. Smartphones do not play flash content from Musician pages here unless you install the relevant browsers. So alot of peeps, myself included, will download the track from mp3u to be able to hear it. Good intentions are then to comment later when signed in from a pc, but I guess most don't. The simple answer is do not make your tracks downloadable if you don't want them downloaded and used across the web without your express permission.... Even if they are not set to download they can still be ripped. Google your track names …I am sure you might find the reasons for excess downloads without thanks. x ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() Personally, I could not give a damn about d/ls.....but I know some of you are more likely to be making a living out of music but look at it like this....they are giving you a compliment simply by taking a download...it's more likely they will listen to it than not if they do so...and isn't that, after all, why you made it? To be listened to. If you were trying to sell it, you'd have it somewhere else, other than here...no?
I am not saying people are wrong to feel they are providing entertainment without any return and I am sorry so many don't bother to give at least some kind of comment when taking something you offered tom them free....but I am slightly confused about the reasons for being upset... While I am here, may I say a huge thank you to everyone on this site whoi ever listened to a song for which I wrote the words...whether or not you liked it or left a reply or downloaded it. It meant I didn't write it for nothing but my own satisfaction. You are all such sweet and industrious people...don't be soured by rudeness of others, my friends xxxxx ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry Rich - it's me taking all the downloads.
Hey not really but if someone did actually own up to doing that would you be more disappointed? Going on from what Ess (now no longer sedated) said, I noticed this happened with tracks on unsignedbandweb and I think you were a member of that to. They had several spin-off sites that appeared to be stealing the tracks. My opinion is they can have them if they like em ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ''That's a mouthful!'' the actress said to the Bishop...

The only way to avoid that is to not put your work on online...or only upload clips.

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not interested in seeing downloads restricted, Marty. Rich seemed to be having a moment where others grabbing dl's without acknowledging the artist was bothering him, and I was just suggesting an option that this site, or another like it might take to address that problem. Personally, I'm flattered that anyone might think enough of a tune of mine to grab a copy...a few of my songs have been downloaded several hundred times and that does give me a small sense of pride regardless of the number of comments.
Others here, for whom fame and fortune still beckon, might want to take your advice about not posting freely downloadable tunes. I'm glad that option's available for them, and I'm even gladder to continue giving my stuff away. ![]() ![]() |
