Funny misheard lyrics
Snidcyco Snidcyco is offline 31-08-2012, 18:49 PM

I'm starting this thread based on the twitter link on the front page. I also first found "Kiss this Guy . com" many years ago. The name is based on perhaps the most famous misheard lyric in the world - Jimi Hendrix's "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" had many folks raising eyebrows and doing double takes - "eh? Jimi bats for the other side??" till they realised it was actually "kiss the sky". D'oh!

Anyway, thousands of new songs have been released since I first surfed onto that site, and as the tweet says peeps are constantly updating it with the lyrics they (thought they) heard, so it never gets old.

That said, a lot of my favourites are pretty old, classic rock tracks, so not much has changed there, but I'm sure you'll get a laugh if you input your favourite artist and/or tunes and see what hilarious brainfarts peeps came up with.

Post whatever gems you may find in this thread for the community's enjoyment and to tickle our collective funnybones.

Despite the genre bias toward rock, here is a kind of top ten of some of my favourites, off the top of my head to help kick it off:

10) Deep Purple: "Small cousin Walter, is firing this guy"
(Real lyric "Smoke on the water, fire in the sky"

9) Led Zeppelin: "And there's a wino down the road"
(Real lyric: "And as we wind on down the road")

8) Beastie Boys: "Listen up y'all - it's Santa Claus!"
(Real lyric: "Listen all of y'all it's a sabotage")

7)
Iron Maiden: "The evil batman dude lives on and on..."
(Real lyric: "The evil that men do lives on and on...")
&
6) "Costume wearin' time!"
(Real: "Caught Somewhere in Time")

5) Guns N Roses: "You can take the bed and sofa but it's more than I can stand"
(Real: "You can take the pity so far, but it's more than I can stand")
&
4) "This song is dedicated to all those fans who suck willies".
(Real: "This song is dedicated to all those fans who stuck with us.")

3) Prodigy: "I'm the firestarter! Olympic firestarter!"
(Real lyric: "I'm the firestarter! Twisted firestarter!")
&
2) "Bake Sale! Bake Sale!"
(Real lyric: "Exhale! Exhale!")

1) Metallica: "Dreams of wars; dreams of liars; dreams of dragon's fire; and of baked apple pie"
(Real lyric: "Dreams of wars; dreams of liars; dreams of dragon's fire; and of things that will bite")

Frickin' "bake sale"??
And Baked Apple Pie is just SO metal! LOL

I remember 20 years ago listening to a song called 'One Light Burning' by Richie Sambora in the kitchen while my mother was cooking.
There's a line in the song
"hope is somewhere ahead, shining brightly, but the past is always following close behind"
My mum pipes up, "where's the need for that language?"
"what language?", I said.
"... The b@stard's always following close behind"
I nearly wet myself

OK, these aren't strictly misheard - kind of deliberately misheard - but it's freakin' hilarious
