Sounds like a nice journey that. I'd probably be tempted to flick through the vast swathes of radio instead of listening to a pre-made selection, that way you get all the flavours and atmosphere as you drive. Bloody envious me! Gas stations with restrooms and a built on home made burger bar... oh yes

Whenever I went on long car trips as a kid, the B-52's always made good traveling music. Not a bad choice if your just leasurely enjoying the scenery. When I play driving video games... I listen to Trash, Death or Heavy metal or Gabber type techno music. Pretty much Hardcore music in general. It also depends on what and how fast I'm driving.
