The album is now availble at: http://www.rgfrecords.demon.co.uk ADY FERGUSON Seasons Change ADF Records AFCD 001 This is the long awaited debut album by 26 year old Adrian Ferguson, who has been performing and writing his own songs since he was 15 years old. The first record he bought was ‘Paul Weller’, but he has always been interested and influenced by soul music of the Motown variety as well as by Northern soul. “It’s the rawness of it which appeals to me” he says, “but I also like better known artists like The Small Faces, The Spencer Davis Group, Sam & Dave, Al Green, Otis Redding and Curtis Mayfield. On a more modern note, I’ve really been influenced by Kelly Joe Phelps, whose voice I like, as well as his guitar playing and his songwriting. I also enjoy Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and Antonio Carlos Jobim, basically if it sounds good i will listen to it”. ‘Seasons Change’ was recorded at Newcastle’s Cluny Studios and produced by Tony Davis, who also contributed keyboards, and Jim Hornsby, who added lead guitar. The top local rhythm section of Neil Harland (bass) and Paul Smith (drums) were also on hand, and the results are plainly impressive, as Ady finally commits 11 of his best original songs to CD, including ‘Getting Better’, ‘Come And Go’ and ‘Let You Know’. Ady has been widely predicted for future stardom, including by the undersigned, and this first offering has already been well received by his numerous local fans. Now the plan is to broaden his horizons… Article by John Tobbler (RGF Records).
