Aaron James was discovered by Bob Geldof’s former guitarist and ex-Boomtown Rat, Gerry Cott and formed The Crystal Set from the musical migration of "Red Velvet Swing". Aaron James has also appeared with Rik Mayall in silent music video "What a Girl Wants" and in the to-be-released TV Musical "Flesh".
Musician's Union Review from "MUSICIAN" SPRING 2005: Red Velvet Swing are made up of canny songwriter David Finney on vocals, guitar and keys, Cormac O'Prey on bass and Paul Ross on drums. There's some true promise at work here and each of the five songs emphasises the group's potential, especially following Keane's breakthrough in the same vein. The accompanying set includes Aaron James on vocals and is principally a demo of songs by the same team. Treading the same pastures as the great song masters Difford and Tilbrook, with a touch of the Divine Comedy thrown in, the opener "Diana Repeater" is a brilliant song, excellently produced, and really deserves much wider exposure. Well worth investigating by publishers and singers alike.
