I originally began with Dance eJay 1 and found that I was actually quite good at choosing samples and arranging them to make passable pieces of music. I made my way progressively through their software packages, eventually branching out to eJay Studio, which allowed me to hook up a midi keyboard and start adding my own material to my songs.
