Searching for Slumber EP, the latest effort from indie rock band “Sally Snow” has come together just as lead singer Stephan Vien had hoped. With Mike Gagain returning on lead guitar, Luke Mackenzie (of the Floating Abigail’s) on Bass, Brett Robertson on Drums, and Joey Vantol’s engineering and production. The album will not leave fans disappointed.
It’s been about a year since the release of “the demos”, a compilation of works spanning half a decade between Vien and other tentative musicians. These recordings allowed the band to gain radio play on CHRW London, and even a television spot on London’s morning show New Day where they had a chance to perform for an audience of over 50,000 daily viewers. These compilations also gave Vien a chance to gain more exposure in his hometown of Timmins Ontario, showcasing his music on MCTV Timmins and The Box.
Although a few members have parted since the band’s original inception, Sally Snow has transformed into a wholesome and stable unit. With the new rhythm section comprised of Luke Mackenzie and Brett Robertson, the band has never been better. “…I like the element of dissonant guitars and being a little off tempo, but some of my songs require a more refined approach. The music should mature as I do, otherwise it just wouldn’t be authentic. I think the balance we have now between a natural and loose tempo paired with a tight production on the other side of the spectrum is what I’ve been searching for all along…” Vien says.
Sally Snow has receive rave reviews, attracting audience comparison to band’s like Hayden, Nirvana, Neil Young, and the Pixies.
