My christmas has been ruined due to coming down with the flippen flu!!! I've not been ill all year so am gutted that I had to come down ill now of all times. Oh well hope everyone else had a nice time.......This is the first time I have gotten out of bed...
 ......Anyone else been ill over christmas?

Yer not too bad......I wasn't as ill christmas day so at least I got to see the kids opening their presents. I now have a terrible earache though......I feel like a little kid feeling all sorry for myself and whimpering....lol....nothing will take away the pain...any suggestions anyone......I can't hear a blimen thing either........so you'll have to shout

Sorry to hear that you two have been ill aswell, it's a bummer huh......I swear I have never had such a bad earache and all sorts of gunk has been coming out of my ear.....infact last night it was bleeding....
 ......erm sorry if your just about to eat breakfast or something...
Well we will have to make it up at New Year....although I don't know if I'm going to be better by then..

sounds like an abcess.... wrap an hot water bottle place it in a towel, and place it behind your neck and ear.. and if you can help it dont try to go out.. if you do have to go out.. wear an headscarf, lol they aint trendy but who gives a feck if it eases your pain.. i know all this from previous times.. my girl suffers with em every winter and there no painkiller outthere!
rias remedy>>> hot water bottle wrapped in a (towel) place it on your neck and ear NOT the ear it self .. only make the pain worse.. also take has many steam baths you can
handle.. the steam gets rid of the infection . so ive just been told.. hope you get better soon marie
 she knows what she talking bout hun trust me neil.

Hey thanks Neil...took your advice and just had a long hot bath and it seems to be working my ear is now making all sorts of strange noises and I can feel that it is dislodging whatever is blocking it up.....at least I am being looked after by mum....although she's ill too....right pair we are

hi saphfire,
glad to hear, that its working this is ria by the way neil's other half. I have suffered from them since i was a child but i get at least 2/3 abcesses ever winter. so yeah i really do know what works well for me it does anyway. also it helps if u put sum cotton wool in ur ear but make it slightly damp (warm water), and just place it in the outer ear if that makes sense, then if you have of those aromatherapy sacks which u warm up. warm it up then place it againest the ear and lay on it if u can. If u decide to go to sleep also lay on ur bad ear as the pressure and warmth loosens nd sofens it up so it cant either pop or come out.

Aww thanks Ria sweetie.....you poor thing getting these a couple of times a year....it's the worst pain ever. Thankyou so much for the advice it really has helped...it's still blocked but not as painful now.....Good health to you and your family and hope you have a prosperous and happy new year....and you don't get any problems with your ear in 2008....
