Thanks so much for the details and (high) praise. So glad to read this. I was half afraid (and semi-prepared) to hear "minimalist." I don't have the time or speed yet to make maximalist. LOL. Not that maximalist is necessarily my fave sound; maybe in between. I layered in so much but wanted it to half gel together, half spread, which can go either way. But I relished the thought of keeping some silence and bare-bone moments in, which is less done today. I was just listening to an 80s fave of mine that is just exemplary to me (True by Spandau Ballet) and thinking more about its impactful quiet moments. Perhaps that was one of the influences deep in my mind, although I know my pause-inspiration had other references as well. :) (Just saying, lol.) Anyway, at a certain point I made myself stop composing any new sounds that my mind sensed for this, and just mixed. Songs need to get finished, ha. Then listening/mixing, I could sense the song might get a "deceptively minimalist" reaction. But hey, that can be a compliment. I'll take it and any compliment. :) For my next songs, I plan to mix it up but eventually do more somewhat like this, except I know this song's difference is partially in its own flowing-from-one-feel-to-other thing. It's also not really something to exactly replicate, not that's what you want either. ;) I didn't know what precise sound would come from this when I started composing (lyrically the topic/inspiration and moods compete so that was a challenge) and I know that could happen with future songs too! I have some things in the works and a general auditory vision but one can't fully predict art-product. I'm checking out your stuff soon, after a loud laundry load is done, lol! Thanks again - Elle
Well this is different - match strike, intimate vox, produced well, well placed beats, interesting synths. and it all holds together well, minimalist, do more of this ? ? ? Like it - Phil
Aw, thanks so much for the (detailed) compliments! I'm glad you like the drum too. ;)
Cool track! Some creative production/sound ideas. I like the percussion/drum loop sound used, it works really well for the song. Unique sound you have created. Thumbs
Thank you. Some of the info I filled out isn't displaying properly, although I haven't placed my bio on this site yet. You can check out my official website, I added a(nother) link to it but here it is too: http://ellelaurelrose.com/ There's a bio and if you check out my Twitter and maybe Tumblr, it'll be TMI in no time, lol. ;) Thanks again for your comments.
"It pays to shake it". Love that line. You have a unique way with this very expressive and saucy piece. Let us in on who you are wont you? A little note on the tune perhaps.. All the same, this is some cool sound.
