Quicksand (Experimental)

Artist Comments
We've classed this as experimental but I guess its just A Cappella. There are about 90 odd voices on here all created by lead vocalist David Lydiard except for about 3 which are Steve

Falling Nine Falling Nine are an alternative, melodic rock duo who create music that fuses classic rock and pop influences with a modern approach. The band comprises of David Lydiard (vocals, guitars, keyboards) and Steve Watts (bass, guitars, keyboards and producer).
After two years of lineup changes, personal problems and a lot of frustration, Falling Nine have found themselves not only personally, but artistically. With band members coming and going for various between 2003 and 2005, the release of their debut EP Attempted Fate in 2006 and the firing of Jenny Jarman, who had shared vocal duties with David Lydiard on Attempted Fate, the band, now scaled down to a two-piece, have begun to find their sound. Newly released cd All Paths Divide finds the pair flexing their creative muscle and expanding on the ideas that they only began to touch upon during previous release Attempted Fate. The multi-layered vocals that made Invisible a favourite are back in force, adding extra weight and counter melodies to the already strong songs and with Lydiard no longer sharing the lyrical and vocal spotlight, the bands latest output is a far more stronger and cohesive effort than the last. Each of the six songs have been thoroughly worked over in production, each track painstakingly crafted to make it sound as good as it can be. The levels of production are infinitely higher this time around, with an assortment of instruments and noises adding something to each song, but it's the addition of multiple backing vocals to the majority of songs that make them stand out even more. Quicksand itself featuring around 90 voices all performed by Lydiard with the exception of about two or three that are performed by Steve Watts. In Lydiard, Falling Nine have a tortured frontman who knows how to write melodic, catchy rock songs and who can deliver a rock solid vocal performance and in Watts they have their very own Brian Wilson, a man who will ring the neck out of a song in order to get the best out of it, and who won't stop until he gets the desired sound he is after.
