Travel the Walls
I must say that I agree with the point that I need to improve, but I must strongly disagree with that other point. I actually dislike working with samples, and prefer, in reality, working with FL software synths. occasionally, I use a wav file of an inverted saw, or the like to get a new twist in the sound in a song or two, but I almost exclusively work with the synths and playing with the knobs to see what I can create. Have you ever used Fruity Loops? Then you'd know what I'm talking about. I've actually had some friends of mine suggest Reason, but that costs about 5 times as much as FL. Besides that, I don't have the money for anything else. not even a keyboard, or a hardware synth, or else I'd have one. Thanks for the suggestion, but that's not my path.
You can see the direction here is good, and you definately have a good ear for music. However, you need to start challenging yourself to become more technical even if it is on a computer. Get some real recording studio software that has more than just sampling abilities. Using FL is only limiting what you can express. Since you like FL, I am going to assume you would be best with sampling sounds and arrangement. I would suggest getting a copy of "Adobe Audition" (formerly Cool Edit Pro) and purchasing tons of sample CD's in HIGH quality WAV format. The trick with using a real recording studio is understanding the math of it all and being able to correctly time your samples in much the same way FL does for you now. The inventor of THX (I believe his name is Thompson) wrote an excellent book I read about 5 years ago on audio wav manipulation, from a scientific aspect. I started when I was young too, and I wish someone would have pointed me in the right direction for what I was trying to do.
Prophecy have the makings of something good. 'Travel The Walls' is an interesting track.
I changed my mind about the competition, for I'm buying a better version of FLStudio than the contest was offering as prize. I haven't been working on any music for over a month (summer, no computer, no time, etc.). I bought a pair of Numark tt1550 turntables with slipmats, a DM something-or-other mixer and a pair of numark headphones in a cheap package to practice spinning on. Getting better slowly but surely. Expect no new music until after late August.I just purchased three Hardcore records (all Scott Brown, I think) to go with my current assorted 80s set (Meat Loaf, Queen, Duran Duran, David Bowie, Dead or Alive...). Before summer break began, I had started another song, but I can't load it as-is, because I have no means of doing such...yet.And...that's about it. Later!
I just updated this page, and I plan on submitting a song into the Summer competition for FLStudio. It'd be nice. Check back, for all I know it could be finished tonight!Peace out!
A big problem...A HUGE problem... The ASSHOLES at Freewebs deleted my website without notifying me, and I lost all of my other previous work, and seeing as my personal backups on my harddrive were destroyed as well by a hard drive error while zipping them, I have no more of them.Well, I lost my account, lost my access, lost my files, lost my domain, and lost my pride... Now some random guy with a hugely generic theme is ....ting up my space with his worthless crap about being a music producer as well...yet hasn't turned anything out like he promised...this past summer was supposed to be it for him, and he lied. And stole my webspace.Perhaps worst of all, I am unable to contact Freewebs to ask what the HELL happened... Damn...
I figured I should let anyone who would actually visit my site here know this, as I find it pretty important, in relation to this site, especially. I haven't had time to work on a new track lately, as other projects, and school have gotten in the way.I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone, but I thought I'd let you all know. Email me if you really want another track, and I'll see what I can do.Thanks!
