Ever since he was born, Neil Bailey has had music in his bones. He fell into the world in the back bedroom of a typical northern terraced house as Bill Haley's "See You Later Alligator" played on the radio. He's tried not to look back since. With no formal training, he formed his first band when he was a mere six months old, but decided to keep his ambitions secret until he was old enough for people to take him seriously. At the age 12 he decided he wanted to be a drummer, but having broken all his mum's knitting needles by the time he was 13, he was forced to pursue a different path. The following year he bought a cheap guitar with the money he had saved from his paper round. Within a week, with bleeding fingers, he had written his first song. Entitled "Uncle Arthur and the Nights Around the Coffee Table" it was a sombre pean to missed chances. The song was a complete flop amongst his close friends and family, and as a consequence Neil suffered a crisis of confidence and wouldn't pick up his guitar for another 5 years. A chance encounter with a packet of blue tack made Neil realise that he did have something to give to the music business, and so he formed his first proper band, The Suicidal Grapes, with some friends. Things soon turned sour and the band broke up. The following years saw Neil "perform" in a number of bands with such names as Tipping Tom Wad, The Boris Karloff Bourbon Connection, and Bus-K. Due to an overwhelming sense of indifference, none of these projects worked out as planned, and at this point Neil once again went into the creative wilderness. This was where he remained for the next few years until he decided once again to have a go at writing music. The songs on this webpage are the results of these efforts. He lives in Lancashire with his girlfriend, his cat, his mortgage, and his conscience. From here to obscurity. Enjoy.
