Cubase is another level of sickness!

I'm rediscovering the joys of rewire and free VSTi's. I'm rewiring beats in from reason and sculpting pads in Cubase.

But i really want to know a few things about Cubase

1. How can i program my MIDI keyboard [x station] so that i can mix the volume levels with the sliders on the keyboard. In reason its simple [remote override automation]

2. How can i change the colours of the blocks in the sequencer

3. How can i program drum beats without rewire?

4. Why does Cubase sound better than reason? I load the same sample in both programs and it just sounds crisper and louder in Cubase!!!

Thank you for your time Thumbs%20Up

To program beats into Cubase, you'll need to use a vst drum machine thingy and then program the beat in using the midi key editor.

I have no idea why Cubase sounds better than reason, possibly due to the mastering track on the mixer? I dunno if erason has one of them, neevr used it

I'll get answers for your other two queries tomorrow.  The colours thing is quite easy actually, but unfortunately I don't have the time to explain right now due to a screaming infant.

I'll PM you full instructions asap.

You probably already found how to change block colours in Cubase... but just in case:

In the toolbar at the top there's an 'area fill' icon with a tiny little strip (usually grey at first) underneath it (as far as i know it is by default at the far right of the toolbar strip which includes the pointer, scroll etc.). Just click on the grey strip and the palette will pop up, then select your colour (I prefer 'Menstrual Red'). next, click on that 'area fill' icon and then go crazy clicking all the blocks that you want to be, in this case, a fetching shade of maroon :) If your hands are as shaky as mine, it could take anything up to 10-12mins to actually get the mouse into that tiny grey strip!

Hope this is helpful, or at least only moderately annoying!
