PASSING GREY CLOUD

put on your coat and let’s go
or leave it—it’s not very cold
and I’ll hold you
I know that it’s late and you’re tired
but it’s just such a beautiful night
and I’m lonely

I’d like to think that you happen to think of me sometimes
watching a passing grey cloud in the summer sky

we followed the yellow brick road
and talked about people we’d known and got over
we paused at the ancient grave site
a satellite passed in the sky, quite unknowing
