Nothing Else Is Real
Aah, that lustrous analogue sound, bold, rich and full of character. Loving it! Nice to find a like minded musician (we've got a huge soft spot for the old analogue synths - we use a few of them ourselves, they've got a much warmer sound than digital) Big thumbs from us!
Wyrd Psyence is the alter ego of Birmingham, UK based singer/songwriter/knob-twiddler Giles Hughes. Obsessed with the sexy squelch of analogue synths, his aim is to fuse the icy romance of early eighties electro pop (think Depeche Mode, New Order) with the club-friendly sheen of modern dance acts (Stuart Price, Calvin Harris).
Sweeping filters, throbbing pads and phat basslines are the order of the day. But this is electronic music with a human face, and heart.
Having played keyboards in various bands for a number of years, Giles decided to go solo with Wyrd Psyence in 2006. After many lonely nights labouring over a hot computer, a few tracks began to take shape. He continues to tinker in his home studio, and is currently working on a full studio album to be released in the near future.
