Starting out as an all-girl outfit in 2001*, Sputterdoll has gone through several lineup changes and is now settled with the solid co-ed musicianship of founding members Bernadette Cordova on drums, Rio Gache on bass, and late-comers Brian Doll on guitar (joined July 2002) and Dennis Ly on guitar (joined November 2003). To make it worthwhile, they all share vocal duties. Early sounds were reminiscent of typical lifeless 3-chord pop-punk that is generally popular among the all ages scene. Every guitar player that has stepped in to play for Sputterdoll has done a bit of change in the sound. The final result is a more raw and diverse brand of rock n' roll, with an approach to simple punk rock (The Ramones, The Go-Gos, Green Day,) and the additional styles of indie/classic/brit rock (U2, The Beatles, Radiohead) with hints of later styles of punk (The Ataris, Alkaline Trio, MxPx) and a variety of others (Letters To Cleo, The Living End, Hole). The bottom line is to create honest rock n roll songs in form of catchy melodies without all the sugar that is punk rock by today's standards.
With two tours under their belt and a slew of weekend tours around their home state of California, Sputterdoll is on their way to more rockin' and rollin' in support of the new EP, "Proceed Without Caution." Demos and DIY releases have satisfied the band and also captured the evolution of their music. Strong DIY ethics have been instilled in the band at an early age, and will continue to show in their hard work at promoting, booking, and songwriting.
