Formed in the summer of 2002, The Ancient Enemy are quickly becoming a Long Island musical force to be reckoned with. Featuring Mike Curley (former Scary German Guy vocalist) on vocals and drum programming, Kieran Pardias and Oz on guitars and Derrick Prince on bass, the quartet has a style that fuses metal-core, hardcore, industrial, and almost all forms of metal into a sonic barrage the likes of which the world has yet to hear. It is this lack of distinct genre that has allowed The Ancient Enemy to play along side metalcore masters Cannae, Mercury Switch, 1,000 Falling Skies, death metal madmen Circle of Dead Children and Exhumed, beat-down style hardcore bands such as Punch Your Face (featuring former G.F.Y. and Internal Bleeding members) and industrial legends such as Long Island’s own Bile
Their 2003 Demo, that was recorded and produced by The Ancient Enemy’s own Kieran Pardias at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove NY, has shocked and drawn in listeners from hardcore kids to industrial rivet heads with its professional album quality that could only come from a world class studio the likes of Cove City. The two song demo includes “Al Ta’ashet,” and “When The Light Dies.” Both tracks are demo versions that will be part of The Ancient Enemy’s forthcoming album, Vs. Heaven, a concept album that will feature a narrative story line which can be followed on the band’s website when the album is released.
As the band grabs more live dates and enters the studio to complete its full length album, Vs. Heaven, 2004 will prove to be the year of The Ancient Enemy.
