No-Direction formed around the end of Summer 2004, formed by Lo on Vocals and Guitar, Wit on Bass and Dom on Bongos. Initially the band's sound was chilled out: quite simple, accoustic vibes.....however with new band members things always change...
Whilst the three initial mbrs had started off just playing in their spare time, the songs started taking on a really strong identity, and the groups following was getting bigger- there were getting more and more interest, constantly being asked when/where they were playing next. They soon realised the band was getting popular: 'Its trippy to see ppl singing lyrics you've written' (Lo) As always a lot more time, energy and the inevitable equipment was needed. The aim was (and still is!) to create *original* songs with a message. 'Experimenting is what we love doing best, whatever the style of music' (Wit)
Our mission statement is: "Have a laff, enjoy creating music, and making sure we're the last one's out of anywhere we play" - Lo
With new gear and more time and energy poured into practice things just started falling into place. In early December '04 Chris showed an interest in the band and joined as lead Guitarist (although he's more well known for his drumming ability), from the moment we all met up the chemistry was spot on and he slotted into place like he'd always been there. With Chris on board he started creating a much more intense guitar sound, bringing licks and solo's to the existing tracks, and the band started work on new ideas together. Pretty soon Jake unveiled an array of interesting hidden talents (ahem) namely being an ace on the drums. Since joining he has sorted out the percussion side of things, also adding a certain style and flair which fits in perfectly. He was the missing ingredient to the sound that is now ND...

'What does our music portray? A whole bunch of different subjects, mostly taken from observation, and from situations and problems a lot of us go through. So far i've written tracks about mostly everything, the one's which have made into set lists mainly deal with politics, drug abuse, love gone right/wrong, friendship, ambitions and aims, esoteric topics...i like talking about things i find interesting which is pretty much life in general! 2 of our songs from our Demo EP Gained recognition in the "UK Songwriting contest", reaching both the Finals and Semi-Finals in 2005 (Twisted Love Song and Psychotic Narcotics respectively) which is pretty cool' (Lo).
ND want their sound to be as 'live' as possible, and try not to conform to any defined standards. Alternative Rock & Indie have been banded around as a description for us. The easiest way to draw a comparison is to give a mention to those greats who influence us, some of them being: The Pixies, Muse, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Alanis Morrisette, Garbage, Placebo, Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins, to name only a few.
