When Belle first started learning the guitar at age 10, nobody would have ever believed she would be recording her self-penned songs - or even still playing the guitar - nine years later. For one whole year Belle hated her guitar lessons. They were so boring - all she wanted to do was pick up the guitar and play the songs she loved.
It wasn't until her third year of guitar lessons that she decided to go out and not only learn songs by her favourite artists, but use her new skill to be creative and make her own music.

So at the ripe old age of 12 Belle began writing songs, even forming a duo with one of her friends, calling themselves 'ankle high halo'. The duo went nowhere, but Belle went on to join the bands 'cross eyed bear' and 'jinxed providence' before finally deciding to go solo.
She finally made her first public performance in 2004 as a competitor in Canberra's Pot Belly GO SOLO competition. She came 3rd in her heat and was offered a place in the semi finals, but was forced to turn it down due to prior commitments.
Belle looks forward to the release of her debut EP 'rose coloured shades' in early 2005, and hopes to play some more shows soon, |

i think as a musician it is important to surround yourself with music from a number of genres so you can grow as an artist, however ultimately you will have artists who influence you more than others. For me those artists include Nirvana, Fiona Apple, Hanson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crowe, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Joni Mitchell
