This most recent line-up, began playing together in February 2004. Quickly building up a solid set, combining the best parts of styles ranging from funk, rock, emo, metal, electronica, math-rock, post-rock and pop. Difficult to pigeon hole, the band have been compared with a wide variety of different bands from Tool, Muse, Radiohead, Incubus, Biffy Clyro, Hundred Reasons, Jeff Buckley, The Foo Fighters and Sunny Day Real Estate. The band soon began playing with locally and nationally established bands, such as Caretaker, King Adora, Fell City Girl, Andy Glenn and Ritch and Jetplane Landing. The band improved their live performance dramatically over a short period of time and by the beginning of April, had been voted Oxford University Battle of the Band winners, by a team of judges consisting of university press and local musicians. The band then used a brief amount of time off, to record a demo. This first recording effort by the band, has been received with critical appraisal from press.
“Definitely one of the best local bands I have heard in a long long time.” – BBC oxford online, Ross Heaton “Aside from the obvious professionalism of their live performance, the main strength of this band is their set-list: these guys can write amazing songs. Tightly constructed, they avoid dull repetition and keep tracks short and full of impact, compelling interest right the way through with innovative solos and varied melody. I found myself singing along to most of their songs having only heard them a couple of times.” – Oxfordstudent.com “bringing twinkling guitar melodies together with more brash and powerful passages.” – Oxford Home for Music Magazine
