Volcanoes are a Rock and Roll band. We formed in September 2004 when 'Shirles and Bed' grew tired of the Sheffield acoustic scene and decided our songs needed more umph behind them. Since the addition of Boa(Bass) and Chris(Drums), the Volcanoes have evolved a unique style, a lush mixture of Rock and Roll and Psycadelic Indie. The band are continuing to grow in confidence and we are currently heavily focussed on our live act. Playing Live has always been a big part of the Volcanoes plan, playing in both Sheffield and Leeds on a regular basis. We love big tunes that we can swing our legs to. We aim to have created enough of a vibe by Winter 05 to begin approaching the record companies. Things are going really well and we have already supported Tom Vek on his UK tour along with the Arctic Monkeys and had a great response. Our influences vary greatly although the band would say they lie somewhere between 'The Door's' and 'The Coral'(if that's possible). Our Retro Rock and Roll feel is obvious but Samson's Liverpudlian roots give the songs a psycadelic and more contemporary edge. Our debut recording was the fantastic RED DOOR EP. It contained the bands favourite song, tital track; 'The Room with The Red Door'. We're obviously biased but this EP is ....ing mint and we're well proud of it. The bands full range is explored here. 'Red Door' is a bouncy scouse Rock and Roll tune, whilst Snake Pass is a darker more thoughtful ballad. 'Shallow Fire' really shines out though and has got to be a single one day, this is Sleazy Rock and Roll at it's best performed by up and coming love gods We are VOLCANOES.
