SOUR GRAIN started out like most bands with the hopes of a group of guys coming together with similar musical interests to create music reminiscent of their heroes. Musicians from the time they start playing begin looking for that fabled Zeppelinesque rehearsal in which the music and the connection between the players was "magical". After years of searching individually Steve, Brian, Dave, Chris, and Jake have found that magic. Beginning with the first rehearsal there was a comfort and a bond that some groups don't develop even after years of playing together. The power and the raunchiness were there from the very first note.
It was obvious to all that night that this was a band to be reckoned with. Musically you can hear the power of Zeppelin, the boogie of the Faces, the mesmerizing simplicity of Free and the reckless abandon of Grand Funk Railroad. Even though their style isn't revolutionary it sounds fresh and exciting today. The intention of SOUR GRAIN isn't to re-invent but to remind people of how enjoyable music was and can be. Now is the time to break out of today's categorizations and just play. Video may have killed the radio star, but his soul still shines.
