Kara, a classically trained cellist and pianist come R & B vocalist whose influences run more toward Cassandra Wilson and Ella Fitzgerald than Janet Jackson and TLC recently released her first full-length CD, Seasons. The jazz-influenced ballads it contains, along with its mid-tempo grooves is refreshingly more relaxed than anything you'd be able to find in this genre. A voice that can easily command a complicated melody switches effortlessly to blend her ambient, evocative vocals with the rhythm and blues of these 12 tracks.
