Growing up in the suburbs of the bay area of Florida proved to offer many valuable experiences for Jenny Ess. Her mother fell ill when Jenny was ten years old. As an attempt to keep her childhood as normal as possible, through this trying period, her mother enrolled her in a musical through the local community theater. What began as mother’s wishful idea would prove to become a central part of Jenny’s life. Musical Theatre became a passion for her. Not only did she enjoy acting, she was also developing a love for music. She began auditioning for many other musicals and soon began landing leading roles in the community theatre. She has appeared in many musicals including, Snoopy!, Oklahoma, Bye Bye Birdie, and Damn Yankees. From acting in the plays at the community theatre Jenny heard of an ensemble of students called Pizzazz. These children and teenagers would perform at different events around the community. After auditioning and securing a spot in the company she took on vocal lessons and performed at many public events. As she got older and became more involved in school, her music was put on the back burner for a while. Upon entering Florida State University, Jenny noticed that she missed performing and found comfort in performing with the FSU Gospel Choir. A wonderful opportunity presented itself when a friend and coworker of Jenny’s heard her singing while taking a break from work one day. He then referred her to rapper Blaze A Mic who, at the time, was working on his first album with WhoYaWit?Records. The two recorded the beginnings of a song together and sent it to the label. Jenny then went to Ft. Lauderdale to meet with the President and Vice President of WhoYaWit?Records. While working with them she felt that it was with the WhoYaWit? family that she could cultivate her talent, thus signing with them. Jenny is currently working on her first album entitled Essence of a Woman. Listeners can look forward to some tracks that will make you move ya body body shake ya body body, as well as soulful ballads. The essence of any woman has many different facets and sides to be seen…with this album Jenny wants to give listeners insight into her soul.
