DJ started to make electronic music when he was 12 at his home in Detroit, MI.
He finished his first album that year although it was some slicey-dice techno. (blah)
Eventually, he gave up on social life when he decided to depend on music full-time.
He formed an electro, one man band called Montreux.montreuxx.
He knew he saw that name somewhere but forgot; it was a city in Sweden...
Later he changed it to montreuxx. (dubblee x!)
This new music inspired two break-off projects; Blue Shift, and Basic Channels.
Blue Shift was Indie, with guitars and blips all over the place.
Basic Channels was a hip-hop, electro project with Richard.
All the music is made in either DJ's or Richards or Randy's basements.
Unlike professional musicians, DJ uses common circuit bending toys and gadgets such as...
- Gameboy!
- Sega Genesis
- Nanoloop
- Flanger
- Wah Pedal
- FX Pedal
- Convienient Store $5 synth
- Mini Mono Synth
- Panning Machine
- Vocoder
DJ uses Ableton Live to mostly record his music.
Occasionly he uses GarageBand, FL7 and Reason to make nice sounding effects.
Pop Art; DJ's first album is finished.
It has an edgy techno sound, not very liked by DJ himself.
Mr. Hansens Monster Shop is also finished.
To the pointt of an EP, anyway.
After hearing the music of HH and other artists alike, this album however is leaning to a more Chiptune kind of sound.
Chiptune=Loveable Gameboy Noises!
Most songs can be downloaded by Purevolume or 8-Bit Collective for free.
