Vergeltung was formed by Alexey, Evgeny and Konstantin in 2002 right after they decided to leave Azeroth. But a few months later Alexey joined russian army, and the band was frozen for two years although Evgeny and Konstantin never stopped rehearsing and auditioning musicians for the band. In 2004 Alexey returned to his keyboards, and band started to compose new songs.
During the next year Evgeny Beresnev and Dmitry Prilukov joined the band, being the few ones that were skillful enough to handle the complex and furiously fast music of newborn Vergeltung. The band was not able to find a decent singer so the decision was made to stay instrumental and compensate the absence of vocals with additional keyboard parts and sequenced loops and effects. In 2006 band started performing live, the first ever show took place in Arctica club (SPb, Russia) on 11/02/06.
