HIGH COTTON writes and performs Americana/Folk with a twist. They are a synthesis of their past musical experiences- Folk, Jazz, Country, Celtic, Rock, Doo-Wop & Storytelling. We believe our joy in playing comes through in our music. A fan put it this way: "What is striking and unique about High Cotton is one minute they are giving out a Dollar Store Barbie as a prize (song Dollar Store) and next Laura is singing an original song that is so moving and powerful it quiets the entire room".
One of the things that drew us together is our love for songwriting. High Cotton songs are typically inspired by very ordinary moments in our lives. If we can take the ordinary and make it extraordinary, we know that joy will be reflected back to us from the listeners.

WELCOME..
A little Southern hospitality and Americana wisdom awaits you in our music! This "Southern Belle" somehow got caught up with these two Northern Carpet Baggers and things haven't been the same since! Great music is created out of the blending of the most surprising things!...that is what we think you will find in our tunes.....a unique interpretation of some to the most everyday things....those red Mary Jane shoes I used to wear, my honey in his black jeans, and the gift of a beautiful guitar. Some things just turn into special songs....at least we hope you will think so...stop on in, pull up the rocking chair, crank up the sound and have a listen...Oh and "Y'all come back now, ya hear?"
