As a singer and songwriter, John Korbel has developed his craft through a diversity of musical experiences. He has performed in venues from small coffee houses to large nightclubs, and showrooms. He has opened shows for a wide variety of major acts including Jay Leno, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Hooters, and Asleep at the Wheel. And he has been a finalist in songwriting competitions in the US and overseas.
John has received national airplay for his song “Standing Tall for America”, dedicated to the Armed Forces. It was the .1 “Most Added” single by Adult Contemporary radio stations across the US for the week of 10/24/01, according to New Music Weekly. John has performed at the House of Blues in Orlando as part of the “Living Room Jam” series. His song “Everybody’s in the Band” was selected as a finalist at the 2002 International Song of Peace Competition in Ireland, and he had two songs competing in the finals of the 2001 Southeast Songwriting Festival, sponsored by the Mountain Valley Arts Council in Alabama. In 2003, Orlando Smooth Jazz radio station WLOQ booked John and his band to perform on the Southwest Airlines Main Stage for the Winter Park Sidewalk Arts Festival, always one of the top drawing events in Central Florida.
