24 year old Nikki Aston has always been a born performer. This became obvious when, at a young age, she would put on shows for her mum and dad in the front room even if they were trying to watch tv at the time!!
Her first stage performance came at the age of five when she was picked to play the part of the angel in a Nativity play. However, fame was short lived for Nikki back then when her teacher cruelly took her starring role and gave it to someone else, merely coz poor Nikki was too short! Bless!! However, this minor set back didn't deter Nikki from her dreams of being a star. She carried on practising in her bedroom with the hair brush, singing along to her fave singers of the time, namely Kylie Minogue, Belinda Carlisle and The Bangles!
At the age of seventeen, Nikki auditioned for a girl group called Cyan and was recruited as lead singer of the group. Managed by Sidonie Jordan, the girls performed at venues around London, alongside Ellie Campbell, made appearances on Cable TV Kids shows and spent time recording original material. They even appeared in the music video for "She's The One" by Mr Robbie Williams. Nikki also danced in the music video for "Everybody Get Up" by 5ive and appeared in the music video for "Champagne Highway" by Essex-based boyband Skandal.
After parting company with Cyan, Nikki and another member (Nicola Kehoe) formed a duo called Sinergy. Managed by music veteran Len "Chip" Hawkes (of Tremeloes fame) and his son, Chesney, Sinergy performed at the Capital Radio Cafe in Leicester Square and had interest from Sony and Polydor Records. Sadly, the group disbanded leaving Nikki to go it alone!
In true Pop Star tradition, Nikki went on to do a season as an entertainer in a Holiday Park in Kent. After nine months of party games and party dancers with Dylan the Dinosaur, Nikki embarked on a fresh new career on the Cabaret circuit, performing in pubs and clubs up and down the UK.
In July 2005 Nikki began an artist development course where she has begun to write and record her own material with platinum-selling producer Laurence Hobbs which, along with her training with Vocal coach (and sing/songwriter) Karla Celeste, will hopefully stand her in good stead for a long career in the music industry.
