Singer Songwriter Will Tidey grew up in West Sussex on the South coast of England. He began writing songs at the age of 12 and formed his first band in 1995 with 3 friends from School.
‘Lazy’ recorded 3 Ep's together and played regularly at local bars before eventually securing dates on the London circuit. The band split in 1998 as members made their way to university.
Will then headed to London and pursued his solo material, moving quickly to record his first solo EP “Suitcase In Her Soul” and commit to a live residency at Brixton’s Windmill Club. Performances at Heavenly Social, The Borderline and 12 Bar Club followed as his fan base grew through word of mouth. A second EP “14 Fortuna in Torrevieja” prompted Time Out London to label his individual style as “urban folk”. Heavenly Social touted Tidey as “the next Ryan Adams”.
In July 2002 Will relocated to New York City and was asked to join Lower Lot, a Manhattan based rock band. They went on to play over 50 shows together, including performances at the legendary CBGB, Arlene’s Grocery and Luna Lounge. The band enjoyed heavy rotation on local radio and Tidey was praised in the music press for his “powerful voice” and “respect for the lost art of melody and lyrics”. Underrated Magazine described him as having the “perfect mold of carelessness and intensity”. Will left Lower Lot in early 2004 to spend time traveling and concentrate on developing his solo material.
Fast-forward to Summer 2004 and his first solo recording for three years is finished and ready for release. ‘This Beautiful Happiness" was recorded in a small studio on 25th Street & 10th Avenue in Manhattan and produced by ex Lower Lot members Billy Vasiliadis and Ryan Hodgson. The sound is stripped down, soulful and anthemic – equal parts Bob Dylan, David Gray, Sunhouse and Ryan Adams.
